The majestic limestone cliffs of The El Nido Marine Reserve are estimated to be 250 million years old. They stand guard over crystal clear waters, with innumerable species of tropical fish and corals, and three species of endangered sea turtles. Limestone cliffs similar to those in Palawan can be found in Halong Bay, Vietnam, and Guilin, China.

El Nido has many secret coves with beaches of pure white sand. Secret Beach, at Matinloc Island, can be accessed only by snorkeling through a small crack in the limestone walls. Big and small lagoons, of varied depths, show breathtaking shades of blue and green. The tranquil serenity inside is broken only by the sounds of birds and cicadas.

The entire Caribbean has only 50 species of corals while the Philippines alone has 250 to 300 species. At El Nido thrives one of the country’s richest reserves of marine life.

El Nido also has more than 20 dive sites, all easily accessible from the resorts. Visibility is generally good, with an average of 60 to 100 feet in the summer months of March until June.

The dive sites range from gradual slopes to drop-offs, wall dives to flat reefs.

Lagen Island Resort is located on its own island, assuring minimal impact on the environment, as well as privacy for guests. It is set in a lush forest and provides a magnificent view of the El Nido sunset.

Lagen has Water Cottages built on stilts on both sides of its cove, Beachfront Cottages with a view of the entire cove and of the sunset, Forest Rooms and Forest Suites built on the fringes of a tropical forest. All cottages, rooms and suites have floors made of antique wood and furnishings made of old wood, all from old Filipino houses.

Activities include aquabiking, bird watching, bottom fishing, cave exploration, diving courses (these must be pre-arranged, ask us to reserve you a place), fish feeding, hobiecat sailing, island hopping, kayaking, lagoon exploring, trail hiking, private island picnicking, snorkeling and windsurfing.

Day 4 Transfer to the airport by boat.
