Treasures of Taipei

 

 

Day 1 Depart Hong Kong by air  
  Arrive Taipei
  Transfer to Taipei City and visit the beautiful Lin An-Tai House. The Lin An - Tai
  homestead, a 30 - room Ching dynasty - era family home on Pinchiang Street in
  northern Taipei, offers a rare look into the way of life in China’s past. Intricate
  stone and woodcarvings decorate the home, complementing the grace and beauty
  of its classical Chinese architecture. Built in 1820’s by a family of wealthy
  merchants, the house was carefully dismantled in the late 1970’s and moved to its present site.
   
  Continue to the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall, a majestic marble monument     surrounded by landscaped gardens and placid ponds.
  It is a popular gathering place and the location of the National Theater and Concert Hall. A ground - level library displays photos and
  mementos of the late president’s life.
   
  Check in at the spectacular palace style hotel. Dinner at The Mongolian Barbeque
  Restaurant in town, then proceed to Lungshan Temple and the Hwa-Hsia Night
  Market. Return to the hotel.

Day 2 Breakfast at the hotel.
  The morning includes a visit to the Martyrs’ Shrine, an excellent example of
  classic Ming dynasty architecture, dedicated to the fallen heroes of China’s wars.
  It has a majestic archway, tranquil paths, and an interesting hourly changing of the guard ceremony. Continue to the National Palace Museum.
  The National Palace Museum is the world’s largest collection of Chinese art, spanning China’s 5,000 year history.
  Treasures from the ancient imperial collection include jade, porcelain, paintings, bronzes and more. Pieces on display are changed regularly. 
  Lunch at a famous tea house, located five minutes ride from the museum. The tea house serves tea Chinese style and Taiwanese food.
  It has a very relaxing atmosphere and if the weather is good, one can sit outdoors.
  In the afternoon return to the National Palace Museum.
  Dinner at a restaurant in town; either Sichuanese or Hunanese cuisine.
   
Day 3 Breakfast in the hotel.
  Depart at 10 am for Chang’s Foundation Museum. This is the largest privately-owned museum in Asia and has a big collection of priceless Chinese art
  treasures. Most of the art objects were part of the Chinese imperial collections.  Dim Sum for lunch at a local restaurant.
  Late check - out has been arranged. There is an interesting Flower Market and Jade Market (open on Saturdays and Sundays)
  which you might like to visit. 
  Transfer to the airport.
  Depart Taipei by air  
  Arrive Hong Kong
