Saipan Seaside Holiday

Day 1 Depart Hong Kong by air

Day 2 Arrive Saipan
Met on arrival and transfer to the hotel.
  Hotel:     HYATT REGENCY
or  PACIFIC ISLANDS CLUB  (for families)

Day 3 The Mariana  Islands of which Saipan is one, are formed by massive underwater
Mountains, whose tips alone protrude from the sea. The islands sit directly next to the
Mariana Trench, a vast submarine canyon which descends more than 35,000 feet  below
sea level., the deepest known ocean depth. Thus, though Saipan’s highest point, Mount
Tagpochau, rises only 1,500 feet above sea level, it actually stands more than 35,000 feet
  – thousands of feet taller than Mt. Everest – when measured from the base of the trench.

Over time, coral reefs formed around the islands, creating spectacular lagoons and
spectacular beaches. On Saipan alone, you can spend many blissful days exploring the
various meeting points of the land and the sea. Micro beach, which fronts the bustling
resort area of Garapan, is a lovely expanse of silky sand and gentle turquoise waters,
and a favorite among windsurfers. About a mile offshore lies the day-trippers delight of
Managaha Island, accessible via a number of tour boats. Farther north are the quiet
havens of Pau Pau Beach and Wing Beach while, to the south a nearly unbroken ribbon
of sand provides excellent viewing of Saipan’s legendary sunsets. At the island’s
northeast tip, a steep staircase leads down to the cobalt-blue water of “The Grotto”, a
collapsed cavern connected to the sea by underwater passages. At the very southern end
of the island meanwhile, lies Obyan Beach, where prehistoric latte stones are visible.
Nearby is Agingan Beach, where the galleon “Nuestra Senora de la Conception” went
down in 1638 spilling her treasure onto the reef. Just ten years ago, a salvage operation
recovered several million US dollars in gold and precious gems at Agingan – some of it
lying in as little as two feet of water!
