Shanghai by Train
 
Day 1 

Depart Hong Kong by train no 100   

15:00
  With departure from Kowloon mid - afternoon, one can settle into the   comfortable compartment and watch the world go by. Pass through the  towering high rises of Kowloon then pass through the modern satellite   cities of the New Territories. Cross the border between the S.A.R and   mainland China at Lowu.
  The surprising ultra-modern metropolis of Shenzhen appears as a mini  Hong Kong. The economic boom in this region of China is very evident.  As the train passes through rural settlements which are being displaced by  industry, enter the vast suburban sprawl that is the modern city of Canton,   Guangzhou. 
  After dinner and drinks in the Dining Car, retire to the comfortable  compartment for a good night's sleep with the prospect of a fascinating  tomorrow traverse the vast expanses of rural China and cross the mighty  Yangtze River Bridge at Wuhan. 
Day 2 Arrive Shanghai   20:18
 
   Met on arrival and transfer to the hotel.

Day 3 A full day Shanghai city tour includes a visit to the Bund, also known as Wai  Tan. Here you will see European style architecture, mostly built in the 1920’s.  The silhouette of the buildings which match each other harmoniously is regarded      as the symbol of Shanghai. Continue to the Yu Garden, a Ming Dynasty garden  famous both at home and abroad, the Jade Buddha Temple, famous for its  precious Jade Buddha Statue, which was brought from Burma (Myanmar) 400  years ago, it is carved out of a single piece of white jade.   (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)   
Day 4 Full day excursion to Suzhou by train.
Depart in the early morning and upon arrival be met by a local guide.   
Highlights include Tiger Hill then Humble Adminstrator's Garden and the    Garden of the Master's Fishing Net. (Breakfast / Lunch /Dinner)
Day 5 In the morning visit the recently opened Shanghai Museum. Afternoon at  leisure. (Breakfast / Lunch)

Day 6

Transfer to the station,
  Depart Shanghai by train  no 99 08:04
  Settle back into the comfortable compartment for the return journey to Hong Kong. Enjoy going through your newly acquired souvenirs or perhaps read some more about the fascinating places visited. Having completed one of the world's great railway journeys you will arrive back in Kowloon early afternoon.
Day 7 Arrive Hong Kong   13:10
