Mekong Delta Tour. - 5 days 4 nights

The Mekong, a name made famous by the Vietnam War when so many soldiers fought in this area, was and still remains, the major means of transport for goods from Cambodia and Laos. This wide, lazy river is a great way to get around and is still very busy.

Day 1 Depart Hong Kong by air for Ho Chi Minh.

Met on arrival and transfer to the hotel.

Afternoon/evening at leisure in the Hotel or to walk around the City

Day 2 Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) - Cai Be Floating Market - Delta Home Stay
Breakfast in hotel, picked up at 0800 for drive from hotel to Cai Be, stopping en route at an elaborate Cao Dai Temple. From Cai Be, take a boat trip along the mighty Mekong River and its tributaries to view the daily lives of people who work and play on the waterways of the Mekong Delta. The trip includes a visit to the unique "floating" market at Cai Be, and to a family-run business producing rice paper - a key ingredient in Vietnamese cuisine.

Lunch is on an island mid-river, in a local house set amongst fruit orchards and bonsai trees. It is followed by a performance of traditional Vietnamese music.

After lunch, continue to Vinh Long. As the seasons dictate, along the way to the Mekong Delta, you can enjoy the peaceful scenes of farmers seeding, ploughing, or harvesting the rice crop. Spend the night in a typical Vietnamese local house.

Day 3 Vinh Long - Can Tho

In the morning, visit craft industries in Vinh Long to see local residents making tofu, floor tiles, bricks, and rice farming. Drive to Cantho and where you will visit a fruit market and the Bang Lang bird sanctuary, a great chance to see the exotic birds at close quarters.

Day 4 Can Tho - Ho Chi Minh City

Take a morning boat ride from the Ninh Kieu dock in Can Tho to visit the teeming floating markets at Cai Rang. Cruise through small canals and stop at a fruit orchard to taste some of the succulent fruits of the Mekong Delta. Drive back to Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 5 Ho Chi Minh City – Hong Kong

Breakfast, after which spend the day at leisure shopping or sightseeing under your own arrangements in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).

Transfer to the airport for return to Hong Kong

This is a suggested Itinerary only, it can be lengthened or shortened to suit your available travel dates. It can also be made to include other destinations in Vietnam or Asia.
